EVALUATING STUDY SKILLS
Having good study skills is critical to success in the life of the student. In the course Effective Study Skills, students evaluate their current study skills to find out where they need to improve.
The Evaluation Activity: Rate your current level of skillfulness in the following good study habits.Raise the piece of paper that corresponds to the rating you give yourself:
Fair (green) , Good (pink), Excellent (yellow)
The Activity:
1.Reading – has three components: speed, comprehension and recall
2.Writing – not copying, but organizing and expressing in written form what you have read and understood
3.Memory development – employ methods that help you remember a lot of specific facts
4.Concentration – paying full attention to what you are studying
5.Time Management – ability to break down tasks into component parts, & ability to complete each task efficiently.
6. Note taking – from textbooks and from class sessions
7.Library Skills – making the most of the library & knowing how to use it
8.Participating in class – means you are always prepared, mentally present in class
9.Unlocking Difficulties – taking time to unlock difficulties: look up meanings of difficult words and give extra effort to understand difficult parts of the lesson.
10. Testing Understanding – taking some time to test your own knowledge and understanding.
PHILOSOPHY OF MINISTRY
The first and foundational course taught in BSM is Philosophy of Ministry by Rev. Rey Calusay.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Description: A biblical and devotional study of a God-centered ministry, its foundation, motivation and philosophy. Believing that outlook determines outcome, this course is about a biblical way of looking at things that will affect the way people do things, especially when applied to life and ministry
Purpose: To walk the student through the eight major ministry principles affecting his/her service to God, and to help each student formulate his own personal ministry-philosophy and life-convictions which are essential to the practice of ministry.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1. Student will discover the biblical principles of God-centered ministry that God has designed for all who serve Him.
2. Student will formulate his/her personal sets of convictions about major aspects of life and ministry that he/she could use.
3. Student will be able to discuss the effects of these principles in actual ministerial life.
4. Student will appreciate a divine view of ministry as opposed to a worldly/earthly view.

Batch 25 of BSM students attended all three Sunday Celebration services of Destiny City Church. They were introduced and welcome to the church family.

AWARDS TIME

Ms Jean Lumpod, BSM Academic Assistant presented the Academic awardees. BSM gives ACADEMIC AWARDS based on students’ computed average grade in all courses, results of Comprehensive Test, Ministry of the Word and Over all Academic Performance (which included attendance, class participation, insights, fulfillment of assignments).
Ms. Rosanna Ruano, BSM Dean of Students presented the Performance awardees.
It ‘s not just academic performance that BSM considers in evaluating student’s eligibility for graduation and endorsement for ministry. We evaluate their Spiritual and Character progress, Diligence and Progress in Ministry Skillfulness, and their Demonstrated, observable Personal Values and Attitudes. These are the bases in determining recipients for PERFORMANCE AWARDS.
