TEN MONTHS AND TWO DAYS

For ten months, they attended class, interacted with each other, studied as groups, laughed at each others jokes every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 7 to 9 PM. But that was all in the virtual setting. May times they expressed the longing to see each other in person. Then Alert Level 1 in relation to the pandemic situation was announced in most regions of the Philippines, making travel easier. That sparked the idea that we can have an in-person graduation celebration to which everyone agreed.

So they came (except for 4 who could not make it) and had great fun and fellowship for two days. This is the story of BSM Online Batch 1. It was a case of “Hello” and then “Good Bye” but it was better that none.

BSM ONLINE BATCH 1 AWARDEES

Even in the online setting, these students achieved well and demonstrated great performance. Through a customized server within the Discord platform, we were able to measure the performances of the students in the different areas of learning. Coagulations to these achievers.

FORTY STUDENTS FINISHED AS FIRST BSM ONLINE GRADUATES

It is a common saying that the pioneers in an endeavor will always face the greatest difficulty. These forty men and women experienced that and paved the way for the next groups of students who will study in BSM Online. We truly salute them for a job very well done in overcoming the challenges of the learning in an online setting.

BSM BATCH 28 JOINS IN GRADUATION CEREMONY OF BSM ONLINE BATCH 1

When the nationwide lock down effective last March 16, 2020 was announced due to a national health emergency brought by COVID19, the BSM Batch 28  students had to pack their bags to catch up with the last ride back to their home places.   There were a block of courses left to be covered which they were able to complete online. All other requirements for graduation were accomplished online as well. However, they missed the experience of a proper graduation ceremony.

Remarkably however, this batch pursued with their church planting assignments. A year after the pandemic started, with the travel restrictions and required safety protocols, many managed to travel to Mindanao and have started a successful ministry among the Moslems in Mindanao.   As we prepare for the graduation of the BSM Online Batch, we decided to recall them for a joint graduation ceremony.   Nine out of nineteen of them made it to be in the joint graduation ceremony of BSM Batch 28 and BSM Online Batch 1.

ONLINE COMPREHENSIVE TEST TILL MIDNIGHT

BSM Online students took their online year end comprehensive test last March 25, 2022. The test was made available online from 7 pm until midnight. Academic Dean Rev. Zeny Calusay asked them to send in their photos while taking the test. In BSM, students regularly say: “We love tests”|

MANAGEMENT PRINCIPLES

Why this course?
While preaching and teaching are the primary spiritual responsibilities of the pastor, there is another side of pastoral leadership that must not be overlooked or underemphasized- the business and management side. Pastors are not managers in a corporate-business-world-publicly-traded-company sort-of-way. But pastors are shepherds. And shepherds manage sheep. The vast majority of pastoral roles include management. Even at the most basic level, churches require management. Who pays the bills? When does the meeting start? Who is responsible for the different functions? Who keeps the records? What is our policy? These are just a few basic managerial questions.

BSM Online is privileged to have a guest teacher with a wide managerial experience. We welcome Mr. Ronald Amigo.
Current Position:
Asst. Dept Head – Mayor’s Office, City of Roxas
Program Manager – Fred Hollows Foundation
Education:
UP Visayas – BS History
CPC (Collegio dela Purisima Concepcion) – Juris Doctor
ANU (Australian National university) – Masters in Public Policy

Mr. Ronald Amigo and his wife Jane are both members of Destiny City Church and are serving as one of the House church leaders.

NO OTHER GOSPEL

We are tasked to preach the gospel. It is very important that we preach the true gospel.

Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Paul warned about the danger of preaching a gospel other than the one they, the apostles preached Galatians 1:6-9 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one, we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! 9As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!

This course firstly will lead students to look closely into key scriptures that teach the content of the true gospel centered on the Lord Jesus. Secondly, lead them to carefully serious efforts of the New Testament Church to preserve the true gospel, Consequent to this is a study of the arguments Paul presented in his letter to the Galatians in defense of the gospel he preached.

DISCIPLING CHILDREN

“Discipleship is also for children” is the next focus of the BSM Online course that starts this week. Ministry to children in local churches is not baby sitting so the parents can attend church services undisturbed. It should be another ministry to be labeled “HANDLE WITH CARE”. It should be done as intentional and systematic as how we do it with adults so that children will know Jesus as Lord and Savior and are guided to grow as His true disciples.
