STUDENTS WORK ON REQUIRED MINISTRY TO THE LAST DAY

Training church planting students require repeated hands on experience in skills relevant to church planting.  Throughout the year, every week end, students go to a designated target place and implement the SOS church planting system `contact-c0nvert-congregate’. Their  last target area is the community in McKinley. Bible studies in the area were opened by the students along with the other attendees in the Church Planting module last January 17-22, 2012. Since then, the students continued to conduct Bible studies there.  Last March 24, 2012, was the last  Saturday of BSM schoolyear 2011-2012, the students conducted a Life Seminar for all their converts in the area, thereby completing the`congregate’ stage. Many of the converts have already started to attend church at FARM and enrolled in the the FARM discipleship program. It was a job well done.

A VERY FRUITFUL AFTERNOON FOR BATCH 20

In the afternoon of the day the students had the river tour, they conducted a  feeding program for the children in the elementary school nearby the Cadimahan river. Most of the children are children of the fisher folks. Rowena Javier  demonstrated her skill in teaching children while Richel led the children in singing. Meanwhile, Felipe, the ever ready evangelist of the class  took the opportunity to share the gospel to the parents.  Jean  Lumpod, a former radio and television announcer was recognized by some of the parents and had quite a celebrity status experience. She grabbed the opportunity to testify of  God’s touch in her life so much so that she has decided to be in the service of her Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ.

BSM STUDENTS TREATED TO A RIVER TOUR

After a grueling board exam day and just a few days before graduation day, Batch 20 were treated by Mrs. Belinda Garrido to a river tour at the Cadimahan River.    Mrs. Garrido, a Roxas City government employee is herself a BSM Alumni. She imparted to the students   information  about her projects   which benefitted the fisherfolks.  She testified how she has  applied the gospel in a practical way   so that she was able to   connect with  the people in her   work assignment, particularly the fisherfolks.  Her projects include provididng training for fisherfolks in some livelihood skills. That day, new trainees needed models for doing manicure and pedicure and the students became handy models for them. For some, it was a first time experience to have a foot spa.   Later,   the students also went to Culajao Eco Park  and Palina Greenbelt Eco Park where  they   learned about how  mangroves  help  the environment. For the BSM Batch 20 students, the day  proved to be both a relaxation and educational experience.

BSM STUDENTS CONDUCT RECOLLECTION-RETREAT

It is a practice in the Philippines for schools to hold a recollection-retreat for the graduating students. The Culasi Elementary School requested for FARM to handle   one for their graduates. This was made possible through the facilitation of a teacher in the school, Mrs. Mae Theresa Gaylan. The BSM students came handy as  the   manpower to serve said request. It was also timely as practicum in their course on Creative Teaching and Creative CEd Programming.
The event was attended by almost a hundred junior age students. It started from 8 am to 2pm. The students divided the whole period into three sessions around the theme: `Life As It Should Be’ and culminated in leading the students to accept Jesus as their personal Saviour and Lord. using the ICI `Great Question in Life’ booklet.
The faculty members of the school were very grateful and said that they would like us to handle the recollection-retreat next year.

THE STUDENTS THAT EAT TOGETHER, STAY TOGETHER

BSM Class SY 2011-2012 is the second batch of students that enjoy the new dining and kitchen facility of BSM. An Alumni, Jean Tumlos serves as the Food Service in charge during weekdays while her husband Rolly is studying. During week ends, assigned students take turn in cooking their meals.

STUDENTS JOIN `TRANSFORMING CONFLICT’ SEMINAR

The BSM students were privileged to attend a special seminar by Missionary-Author Rev. Nathan Davis on `Transforming Conflict’. The seminar was facilitated by AGWM Asia Pacific Director, Rev. Bill Snider, and was held in the BSM classroom last March 1-2, 2012. Within short notice, the FARM staff managed to arrange for the seminar. The attendance of all NWVDC district and sectional executives was equally commendable. Nathan Davis was generous enough to distribute copies of his book. All the sessions were recorded on video and will be be a valuable resource material for pastors, church leaders and Bible School students.

COMMUNICATING THE GOOD NEWS THROUGH DRAMA

The students designed and presented skits to prove their understanding of Biblical doctrines in the Course `Man, Sin and Salvation’ under Pastor Percival Navarro.

BSM STUDENTS JOIN FARM YOUTH PROM

The soft gentle music echoes through the air and the red carpet was laid down on the floor for  Movers’ Prom Valentine’s Presentation  last February 23, 2012 in the ambiance where love is popularly known – Paris! The venue, FARM church, was dominated with low-key lighting of sweet scented candles on each table and dressed with baby blue draping. It was a night indeed for the glamorous ladies with their coiffured hair and dressed in their gorgeous long gowns with their escorts in tuxedoes. Among them are the BSM students.

CONTACT ATTENDED CHURCH

During the Church Planters Training Module last January 17-22, the students went out last January 20, 2012 for their practicum in getting contacts. They knocked on doors in the community at Mckinley Street, Roxas City.  Rowena Javier (BSM student) with partner Rev. Marietta Sarmiento (from CLDC) had a good contact in the person of Mrs.   Edisel  Lumanyao.  After a follow up Bible study, Edisel started to attend  church at FARM,Inc. The picture below, taken February 12, 2012 – shows Edisel with Rowena at the FARM Welcome Lunch.
