2017 CHURCH PLANTING MODULE

The 2017 BSM Church Planting Module   last  February  14-17  was held in preparation for the church planting on the job training of  the students. The 22   BSM students were joined by church planters and leaders from districts that are also preparing for SOS 2017 church planting campaign. The theme for SOS 2017 `Your Turn’ was officially announced by Home Missions Director Rev. Rey Calusay.  Four courses were offered in this module: Church Planting Concepts, Church Development, Moving in the Supernatural and the revised SOS Church Planting System. The participants had the special privilege to participate in the prophetic and healing ministry of  Evangelist Laurie Hennessey during the nightly rallies.

FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY: ARE THEY OR ARE THEY NOT?

USE OF BIBLE STUDY TOOLS

Carpenters, doctors, engineers, have tools in doing their jobs. They must know how to use their tools correctly and effectively for productive work. The same is true with a Bible student and a minister of the gospel.

CLASS ON PROPER TABLE ETIQUETTE

BSM Batch 25 gets an extra class on proper table etiquette under BSM Alumni George Samaco.

PLAYING DIFFERENT ROLES IN A CLASSROOM DISCUSSION

The teaching-learning process in a class setting should be a cooperative effort of both teacher and students. Students can contribute to or distract the process depending on what roles they play during the class session.

EVALUATING STUDY SKILLS

Having good study skills is  critical to success in the life of the student.  In the course Effective Study Skills, students evaluate their current study skills to find out where they need to improve.

The Evaluation Activity: Rate your current level of skillfulness in the following good study habits.Raise the piece of paper that corresponds to the  rating you give yourself:
Fair (green) , Good (pink), Excellent (yellow)

The Activity:
1.Reading – has three components: speed, comprehension and recall
2.Writing – not copying, but organizing and expressing in written form what you have read and understood
3.Memory development – employ methods that help you remember a lot of specific facts
4.Concentration – paying full attention to what you are studying
5.Time Management – ability to break down tasks into component parts, & ability to complete each task efficiently.
6. Note taking – from textbooks and from class sessions
7.Library Skills – making the most of the library & knowing how to use it
8.Participating in class – means you are always prepared, mentally present in class
9.Unlocking Difficulties – taking time to unlock difficulties: look up meanings of difficult words and give extra effort to understand difficult parts of the lesson.
10. Testing Understanding – taking some time to test your own knowledge and understanding.

PHILOSOPHY OF MINISTRY

The first and foundational course taught in BSM is Philosophy of Ministry  by Rev. Rey Calusay.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Description: A biblical and devotional study of a God-centered ministry, its foundation, motivation and philosophy. Believing that outlook determines outcome, this course is about a biblical way of looking at things that will affect the way people do things, especially when applied to life and ministry
Purpose: To walk the student through the eight major ministry principles affecting his/her service to God, and to help each student formulate his own personal ministry-philosophy and life-convictions which are essential to the practice of ministry.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1. Student will discover the biblical principles of God-centered ministry that God has designed for all who serve Him.
2. Student will formulate his/her personal sets of convictions about major aspects of life and ministry that he/she could use.
3. Student will be able to discuss the effects of these principles in actual ministerial life.
4. Student will appreciate a divine view of ministry as opposed to a worldly/earthly view.

MEASUREMENT TESTS

Before the process is started, the raw material should first be analyzed. We need to know where the students are so we can better help them throughout the training process in BSM. So we give measurement tests in Doctrinal Knowledge, English Proficiency and Comprehension level.

SEATED TO BE KNOWN

Knowing a new batch of students  by their names is always a challenge to teachers. So  students are seated in their assigned seats at the beginning of the schoolyear to help teachers memorize their names.
