NO OTHER GOSPEL

We are tasked to preach the gospel. It is very important that we preach the true gospel.

Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Paul warned about the danger of preaching a gospel other than the one they, the apostles preached Galatians 1:6-9 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one, we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! 9As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!

This course firstly will lead students to look closely into key scriptures that teach the content of the true gospel centered on the Lord Jesus. Secondly, lead them to carefully serious efforts of the New Testament Church to preserve the true gospel, Consequent to this is a study of the arguments Paul presented in his letter to the Galatians in defense of the gospel he preached.

PGCAG GS CHARGE TO GRADUATES

CHARGE
By Rev. Rey A. Calusay, PGCAG General Superintendent and Home Missions Director
To the Graduating Class of BSM SY 2010-2011

1TI 5:21  I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels,
2TI 4:1 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge:

Charge
By the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ the Head of the Church, Savior and soon coming King, who will judge the living and the dead… I give you this charge.

-Live holy, ,continue to train yourself to be godly. Godliness with contentment is great gain. Sin is always a reproach to any people. The Lord says that bad leaders ddo not do what they preach. Do not copy them. Pursue holiness without which no man will see the Lord.

-Love God and surrender to Him with delight. The joy of the Lord is your strength. Enjoy worshipping Him and behold His face at all times. Build a body of worshippers and the church that would be lovers of God. Dismantle the stronghold of false worship and idolatry in the nation, and whereever there is a worthy altar for the true and living God.

-Lead in life through humble service for the people of God, without greed for power, position, or pleasure. Pagan leadership is an abomination, and should forever be banned from your system.

-Learn the ways of the Spirit now that you are about to embark on a race.. and stay in His anointing. Don’t despise prophesying. Do not quench the Spirit’s flame. He is the power of God to start a work and to complete it. Comforter and Friend.

-Labor ever to build His Church- not the concrete and wood. But the assembly of God, people redeemed by Jesus and belonging to God. Prepare His church for power and for purity, to be God’s army, and Christ’s Bride.

-Long for His appearing. The start of the journey may test your determination, the rest of the journey may exhaust your resources, strength and patience. The rigors of serving may suck all your reserves. You may loss precious and essential things in life , and may end up with nothing more left..  But the thought of a face to face encounter with Jesus Christ will always revive you and lift you. It will be worth it all when we see Jesus.

MASTERPIECE
By: Amena Brown

You found  beauty in what doesn’t seem beautiful,
You took a lump of clay, gave it a name & called it human
Blew breath from Your  eternally deep lungs,
Depositing spirit into wombs and souls.

You made us whole from the first breath we breathed,
The first time we opened our eyes, You were all we could see,
But we were deceived to believe You were not enough
So we took a sip of sin’s bitter cup.

We gave up eternal lives for the  taste of a cheap lie,
But You’ve been pursuing us since in the beginning,
You made all the first moves, took all the first steps,
You knew the only thing that stood between us and  You, was death.

So You volunteered Yourself to take the place of harm’s way,
You became the great exchange of pain for peace,
Healing for stripes, death for life,
You are the only One who could make things right.

We could not fathom the cost,    but You paid the price,
You put Your word on our hearts,
You put Your Name on our lips,
And even after we sing all the songs we heard,
We’re left in silence of all You’ve done.

It amazes us that a God who can so easily overtake us,
Takes us, breaks us, and  makes us more like Him,
‘Cause everyday, You chisel our character,
Changing the picture of our lives by the brushstroke.

You want us to be Your masterpiece,
You want us to be the Master’s piece,
You are the only One who gives everlasting peace,
So we lay down all selfishness, all agendas, all affections.

We come to bring a sacrifice,
We come in the Name of the One who gave His life,
We want to follow Him,
Which means we take up heavy crosses,
Which means we take sips of the bitter cup of denying self.

And we cry out to You,
Cause we want You to hear this humble generation,
Seeking Your face & turning from wicked ways,
Cause we need You to heal our land,
We need You to have the heart of our kinds in Your hands,
We want You to scatter us like seed,
That every soul in this world would know Your eternity.

THREE MORE ALUMNI TEACH IN BSM

The church planting students in BSM have just tackled the 8th block of courses for this SY 2010-2011. Three BSM alumni availed themselves to teach. MS. Jean dela cruz taught Life Management, Rev. Pat Martinex taught Bibliology and Rev. Warren Aragona taught Cross culture Missions along with his wife Dr. Victoria Aragona.
The three are among the graduates of BSM when BSM was in its pioneering years as a training school. Pat Martinez was among the 18 pioneer students when BSM was offccially started in 1986. Warren’s batch of 26 students came in next. Jean belongs to the 4th batch of 21 students. All three planted churches after their training in BSM and the rest is now history. Pat is now pastoring a flourishing church in Panay, Capiz and is the sectional presbyter of the Eastern Capiz Section in the North Western Visayan District. Warren, among many other exploits for God’s kingdom has been an exemplary missionary to Cambodia. Jean returned later to her profession as a Math instructor but has continued to be a market place pastor. Recently, she has expressed the undying joy of being in the harvest field and is corrrently making preparations to plant a church again in an urban setting.
Therefore, what the current students had during this block are not just teachers who teach from a set of notes, but mentors who have the field experience and the consistent and undying passion for the work of God. The three radiate through their lives and words the spirit of the pioneer that is chatracteristic of BSM philosophy of training.

DOCTRINE OF GOD UNDER SIR ALVIN TUD

A guest instructor was in Berean School of Ministry – that’s Sir Alvin Tud, a young pastor  pastoring a   50 year old church in Binangonan Rizal. He’s a PK (pastor’s kid) who accepted Jesus at the age of 6 but made a turning point in his Christian life while in college. He was discipled  through Campus Ministry. He graduated from the University of Philippines, Diliman Quezon City with a degree of Bachelor of Arts major in Asian history. Currently he is taking Master of Arts in Ministry at APTS   and also a part time instructor in the STDC District bible school and in a local college in Montalban Rizal.
Sir Alvin taught on the Doctrine of God giving emphasis that knowledge about God should not become a hindrance to the knowledge of God. He said longevity is not a determinant of maturity but rather, the quality of training and equipping. He admitted that he also learned while teaching in BSM. He said he gained a deeper appreciation of SOS and described it as  scriptural, simple and systematic. He is already applyting the SOS principles in his local church and he is looking forward for more zeal among his members in church planting
He ended the course with an exhortation found in Psalm chapter 8 that the works of creation and providence  proclaim to the entire world that there is God, the Fountain of all being, power and perfection, the Sovereign Ruler, Powerful Protector and Bountiful Benefactor of all creatures. How great, how illustrious, how magnificent is His name in all the earth.
Insights from the students:
I grew up in a devout catholic environment and I was  convinced that the idols that we regularly gave homage to in our house are gods.  But I had a   turning point in my life when our house caught fire and I was trapped inside. I asked  the `gods’    to save me but then there before my eyes they were slowly eaten by fire. Then I heard a voice teling me to get out. I didn’t know how I got through but I believe it was  the true God  revealing Himself to me. As we studied the Doctrine of God,  my simple knowledge of God leveled up, and my  appreciation of  the existence of an  all powerful Infinite  Being deepened. I stand in awe of His reality!  – Lerma Anar
He is the unfathomable God but as my knowledge of Him increases so does  my faith. This study challenged me to seek Him more and more. – Jane Tumlos

I believe there is God but there are many unsettled issues in my mind concerning Him. Why are thereso much suffering and poverty? Does he know all these? I also used to believe that God is like a policeman who punishes us when we make mistakes. Our study of the  characteristics of God answered many of my questions. My unsettled issues were settled, and my doubts turned to faith.    Knowing who God is gives me zeal and excitement to tell others of this God whom I believe.-Daren Abellano
